Description: This is a 3-day, 2-night residential landscape photography workshop on the beautiful North Norfolk coast, based near Cromer — open to all levels from beginner to advanced. North Norfolk is one of the most varied and atmospheric stretches of coastline in England, and across a long weekend you'll photograph everything from classic seafronts and groynes to wild estuaries, windmills and big skies, learning to read and capture this ever-changing coastal landscape in its best light.
There really is something for everyone here, and over three days we work a rich variety of locations as the light and tides allow — the seafronts and groynes at Overstrand and Cromer, the atmospheric estuaries of Morston Quay and Blakeney Harbour with their abandoned boats and twisting creeks, and the beach huts, windmills, sand dunes and flint-cottage charm of Blakeney village. The focus is on three things that make a strong coastal image: composing order from busy, expansive scenes, mastering long exposure to draw movement out of sea, sky and water, and timing each shoot to the tides and the soft coastal light. There's even an optional boat trip to see the seals along the way.
With a maximum of just four photographers, this is genuinely personal tuition — Alan plans each day around the season, the forecast and the tide times, and sends a detailed location itinerary a few days ahead. Accommodation and breakfast are included, so all you have to think about is your photography, and you'll come away with a varied portfolio of the North Norfolk coast — seascapes, estuaries, windmills and beach huts — and the field craft to read light, tide and weather on any shore. An extra night's accommodation is available the day before if required — please request in advance, subject to hotel availability.
