All workshops are run personally by Alan Ranger. Alan has over ten years of professional photography teaching experience and will work with participants on a 1-2-1 basis throughout the workshop. Participants are welcome and supported with whatever level and experience they are.

All non-residential workshops are restricted to six clients and often less to ensure that each participant receives the support/tuition/attention they expect.
Residential workshops are restricted to a max of 4 participants to enable travel between locations in one vehicle.

Available throughout the year, the carefully planned, landscape photography workshops are an ideal chance to savour the fun and expertise of hands-on support from a renowned, professional photographer. Alan is always willing to teach and share his knowledge with photographers of any level or experience, so you can be assured you will always receive the tuition you need. These are considered to be the best landscape workshop experiences, according to many clients who have attended. Many clients have also attended one of my photography courses to get a solid foundation in camera basics and editing photos. Attending a photography course is not a prerequisite for joining a landscape workshop, as workshops are run in small groups with as much 1-2-1 tuition and support as you need and want.

All coastal photography workshops are meticulously planned around tide times and optimised to be in the right place at the right time to maximise the best opportunities for photography. Often shooting in the dark from sunrise to the evening as night photography in the dusk hour.
The weather can never be guaranteed but unless we are facing heavy rain we continue with an optimistic and open mind, In the event of prolonged bad weather, I will always have a plan B and C which often involves photo reviews and photo editing tuition back at the hotel.
Every participant on a photo workshop receives as much 1-2-1 tuition as they want. Perfect to Learn landscape photography techniques. Those attending are of varying experience, level and need help on different elements, from use of filters, composition, exposure, creativity and getting the best from their equipment. Simply ask what you want help with and I will be very happy to support and teach. Each client is provided with a workshop guidelines handout detailing handy tips, example photos from the locations we visit and a detailed itinerary with timings.
Most importantly, the landscape and seascape events are always fun, friendly and inclusive for everyone so no matter the experience level you have you will always be made to feel welcome and part of the group. Evening meals are a great time to relax, discuss photography and other topics and enjoy some good quality food and refreshments.

There is an option to meet at the hotel on day one or travel with me from Coventry for an additional supplement if that suits you better. Please bear in mind if you travel to the destination yourself it will mean you also travelling back yourself so having to get to the event locations on the last day yourself

If you would like to attend a photography course or class first before signing up for a workshop, please look at the photography courses page. The photography courses are run from three locations in the West Midlands, Coventry, Kenilworth and Solihull but some classes can also be provided online if that suits your requirements better. I also run regular local workshops for night photography, street photography and portrait photography for those who prefer those genres.
