  • You will be emailed the precise meeting point 4-7 days before the workshop with recommended equipment to bring. However, the event listing will have a generic list of items that apply to most workshops. You are responsible for travelling to and from the location.

  • All workshops are run personally by Alan Ranger. Alan has over ten years of professional photography teaching experience and will work with participants on a 1-2-1 basis throughout the workshop. Participants are welcome and supported with whatever level and experience they are.

  • All workshops are restricted to six clients and often less to ensure that each participant receives the support/tuition/attention they expect.

  • Places will be marked as sold out if applicable; otherwise, please book through the website. If you want to spread the purchase cost, I offer an interest-free 12-month payment plan. All workshops are also available as a gift voucher for that special occasion, purchase the voucher and leave the rest to us.

  • You'll need a camera (DSLR, mirrorless, or advanced compact with manual controls), spare batteries, memory cards, and weather-appropriate clothing. A tripod is highly recommended for landscape work. Alan will email you a detailed equipment checklist specific to your workshop location 4-7 days before the session.

  • Absolutely. Alan designs workshops to support all skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced photographers. You'll receive personalized one-on-one instruction matched to your current abilities, and the small group size (maximum 6 people) ensures no one gets left behind. Many participants arrive never having shot in manual mode and leave feeling confident with their camera.

  • UK landscape photography means embracing all weather conditions. Dramatic skies, mist, and even rain create stunning photographic opportunities when you know the techniques. Alan teaches you to work with whatever conditions arise, turning "bad" weather into creative advantage. Workshops proceed rain or shine, so dress appropriately for outdoor shooting. If the weather is bad enough we may postpone to a later date.

  • Places can be booked directly through the Alan Ranger Photography website. If you want to spread the cost, interest-free 12-month payment plans are available. Workshops also make excellent gifts and can be purchased as gift vouchers for special occasions.

  • The workshop includes personalized one-on-one instruction from Alan throughout the session, a well-researched itinerary at premium locations, individual feedback and critique of your work, and post-workshop support. You're responsible for your own travel to the meeting point and any refreshments during breaks.

      Cancellations by you (participants) I. II. III. IV. V. VI. If you cancel any event that you have booked Alan Ranger Photography, you must do so in writing.

      All cancellation notices must be received via email and will become effective as of the date of the postmark (standard mail or electronic). Once an event, or series of scheduled dates/events has commenced it/they cannot be cancelled and there can be no refunds.

      Cancelling more than 120 days before the start of your event means your balance will not be payable, but you will forfeit your deposit. If you cancel your event having already paid the remaining balance of the event cost, the following charges will be payable:

      D.III.1. 120 to 90 days before the start of the event, cancellation fees are 25% of your tour fee balance (you will also forfeit your initial deposit)

      D.III.2. 89 to 60 days before the start of the event, cancellation fees are 50% of your tour fee balance (you will also forfeit your initial deposit)

      D.III.3. 59 to 30 days before the start of the event, cancellation fees are 90% of your tour fee balance (you will also forfeit your initial deposit)

      D.III.4. 0 to 29 days before the start of the event, there is no refund (you will also forfeit your initial deposit).

      D.III.5. There will be no refunds for services and activities relating to the event/workshop that are voluntarily not used.

      D.III.6. Transfer charges (if applicable) and a flat admin fee of £50 will be deducted from any refund.

      Alan Ranger Photography will process any refund due to you within 30 days of cancellation notice less the service fees. Alan Ranger Photography reserves the right to transfer any monies paid to an alternative event at the sole discretion of Alan Ranger Photography but will be subject to an administration fee of £50. If you fail to attend the event you have booked on you will not be entitled to transfer your missed booking to any other event.

      Alan Ranger reserves the right to offer you an alternative date or credit at his discretion subject to an additional amount being charged for administration – £50 and any loss of revenue resulting from your non-attendance.

  • You'll receive an email 4-7 days before your workshop with the precise meeting point, parking information, and final details. This advance notice gives you time to plan your journey and review the recommended equipment list.

  • Unfortunately not, workshops are about having you full attention and engagement for the activity to maximise the value you receive.
