Description: This Nant Mill long exposure photography workshop takes you into a secluded Welsh valley near Wrexham, where a river and its waterfalls tumble through enchanting ancient woodland — open to all levels and any camera. Flowing water in a quiet, leafy gorge is the perfect subject for long exposure, and this half-day workshop is about more than the silky-water effect: it's about learning to see this beautiful, tucked-away place and make images of it that are calm, considered and your own, rather than the same shot everyone takes.
The long-exposure craft is the floor we build on — setting up your tripod and filters, and calculating the right exposure time for the effect you want — but the real work is composition and seeing. Working the river, falls and woodland together, you'll learn to find order among the rocks, water and trees, to compose the intimate, close-up detail as readily as the wider valley view, and to read the soft, dappled light and the natural greens and browns of this ancient wood as a quiet harmony rather than chasing a loud, over-processed look. The aim is a photograph with mood and restraint — moving water that feels the way the place actually feels.
It's a small group of no more than six, taught personally and pitched at exactly your level, so whether long exposure is new to you or you're refining your technique you get real one-to-one guidance in the field. You'll come away with a set of atmospheric long-exposure images of one of North Wales' hidden gems — and a stronger, more intentional way of seeing moving water and woodland that you can take anywhere.
