What is a Pick N Mix Tuition Plan

If you are one of those people who wishes to progress, is prepared to make the time and put in the work but simply find the financial investment a stretch then I have a solution for you.

The Pick N Mix programme is designed in principle to do three things:

  1. Work with Alan to put together a personalised programme of tuition combining theory and practical training through - Photography Classes, Location Workshops, On-line Mentoring, Master Classes, 1-2-1 Tuition and Critique and Feedback sessions.

  2. Spread the cost of the overall programme over 12 months (interest free) so that the cost is more manageable. You don't even have to wait until you have paid in to take the tuition. You can also pay quarterly or a one off payment to get bigger discounts.

  3. Reward your commitment to my tuition services with a discount on your activities on the tuition plan - Receive up to 20% off.

If you are interested in finding our more about the Pick N Mix Packages then drop Alan an email or phone him for a free no obligation chat about how he can support you develop and work out which range of tuition services would best suit your needs. 0781 701 7994

You don't need to be competent or  proficient to join in any of the tuition services - Whatever level you are already at Alan will develop something personalised for you to ensure your next steps produce the biggest gain in capability.

Getting Started in photography

Getting started in photography is difficult enough - you have to overcome the fear of failure, the myriad of technical settings and embark on a journey of exploration into creative thinking.

I have met, and provided photography tuition to, literally thousands of people over the last 3 years -  in most cases that has been just a 3hr introductory evening class that has enabled them to get their camera of the Automatic Mode and take the next step of using Aperture and Shutter Priority mode.

There are plenty that thank me for a great introduction and tell me they want to go away and practise before embarking on further support and tuition.  It won't surprise you hear that the vast majority don't return for more tuition.  I of course don't know individual reasons why that is, I suspect, there are many.  Time & Availability, Money and Equipment and probably the biggest barrier of them all "commitment".

I wrote about the topic of the photographic journey in my post "the created life" last month in my series "A Journey".  I can not wave a magic wand for you in terms of your commitment though I will do my utmost to support and encourage your commitment to continued practise, development and tuition.

In the next few weeks I shall post some case studies of students that have been with me for 1-2 years and get them to share their photographic journey with you and how their continued commitment to photography tuition has improved their capability, quality and consistency of their photographs.

In the words of one student - Joyce

How do you think you've grown as a photographer?

"I’d say I probably scored 1/10 in terms of ability when I started out almost 2 years ago. I'm probably at 6/10 now. I still have a lot to learn. But that's good – if it was easy it wouldn't be nearly as much fun"

Joyce has invested her time and commitment to improving over the last two years and it really shows in her ability to make images that appeal to her appreciation of the world and subjects in it.  Like most things in life, the more you put in the more you get out -  the continued practise combined with support from a professional has enabled her to become proficient and even sell her own prints but more importantly has given her personal satisfaction and enjoyment from using the camera and capturing some magic moments.

There really is no excuse or reason why anyone can't improve and start creating their own photographic journey to record all the special moments in life and array of wonderful experiences that the created life bestows on us.
