I am just back from a week in East Anglia - touring and scouting new locations for my field-based photography workshops. Having covered many hundreds of miles by car and a fair amount by foot I was delighted with the vast array of photographic opportunities that Norfolk and Suffolk have to offer.
I shouldn't have been surprised by this, as I spent 10 years of my childhood days living in central Suffolk so was familiar with the landscape and coast - however returning as an adult, and a more appreciative eye, was a real treat for me.
My first workshop in this area is at the start of October and will be based around Blakeney in North Norfolk - http://www.alanranger.com/photographic-workshops/norfolk-coast-1-3-days
The coastline along North Norfolk is a real gem - large sweeping shorelines, big skies and wonderful estuaries that reveal many opportunities as the tide goes out and back in again.
The quays, nature reserves and sand dune areas are also rich in photographic charm so whatever your interest and style of photography there are plenty of different subjects for you to sharpen your skills on.
The estuaries are full of abandoned rotten boats and bird life as well as some spectacular but unassuming plant life
As well as the subjects that will maybe stretch your skills and creative vision there are of course the classic shots that we all take for our portfolios.
You don't have to be an expert to attend a photography workshop, I have plenty of beginner's who attend these to receive that personal 1-2-1 tuition on whatever they need to take the next step in developing camera skill and composition in image making.
The small groups (max 8 usually 4-6) are always sociable and friendly so you will be in good company with others wanting to learn and share ideas and techniques. In the evenings we socialise and dine together and where possible do some image feedback or just discuss some ideas.
If you are interested in attending this workshop in North Norfolk please get in touch immediately as there are limited places left. There are options to attend for 1, 2 or all 3 days with or without B&B and transport to and from and around locations.
