What to Expect From a Photographic Workshop

“The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.” ― Dorothea Lange

Alan Ranger Photography offers an extensive range of photography workshops to help you learn how to translate your creative intention into a photograph.

You can choose from a 2.5 or 4 hour session or join an extensive 1, 2 or 3 day exploration into the field of photography, with accommodation and transport readily available for those that require it.

Location based workshops are designed specifically with you in mind, so that you can gain real hands-on experience. By the end of your event you will be able to recognise the best light, contrast, texture, shape and form to get that killer shot.

What You Can Expect

Throughout the year Alan Ranger will give you the opportunity to photograph beautiful and iconic landscapes in varying locations, that have been researched, across the Midlands and UK. You’ll also be able to delve into other photography genres such as wildlife, nature and macro.

Each workshop is limited to a maximum of 6 students per group to ensure that Alan can give everyone the individual support that is required for their level of expertise.

All technical and creative aspects are explained and demonstrated on location, where Alan will review your shots and discuss ideas on how you could improve the overall composition and form.

Don’t worry about whether or not your gear is the highest spec on the market. Alan will be able to advise you how to get the best out of your equipment, and what other gear may help you as you progress.

Prior to the workshop you will be given comprehensive details on what you will need for the shoot and, if you’re there for the 2 or 3 day workshop, what accommodation is available.

“Thank you for such a great day on Sunday 13th at the Lavender fields. It's really given me the confidence to get cracking with my landscape photography and I went out to the wheat fields in our village the other evening when the light was really lovely to take so more shots in the evening sun. I have also ordered a rain jacket for my camera! I'll definitely be signing up for some more workshops.” – Philippa (Lavender Workshop student)
